2 Alabama drill sergeants found dead at Fort Jackson

FORT JACKSON, S.C. (WBMA) — Two Army Drill Sergeants were found dead on base at Fort Jackson in South Carolina just eight days apart. Both men were from Alabama. WBMA reached out to the Army to find out where they are at in the investigation and are waiting for a response. Altoona VA receives national award for 'Best Patient Experience'

ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — The James E. van Zandt VA medical center received an award for "Best Patient Experience" from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The facility scored the highest in the nation for patient experience, trust and best place to work, with a top overall combined experience score. Sigrid Andrew, the VA medical center director said that the medical center was honored to receive the award. She said this shows the team's spirit and commitment to making sure veterans are taken care of.

Expert warns against crying wolf over masks

(TND) — Talk of masking has bubbled up as COVID-19 cases rise. There have been some scattered masking mandates put in place. Morris Brown College in Georgia recently instituted a two-week mask mandate after “reports of positive cases among students.” Kaiser Permanente reinstated mask requirements at its facilities in Santa Rosa, California. And movie studio Lionsgate asked some employees to put back on masks after several workers caught the virus.

Man breaks into No. 9 Coal Mine, authorities remove him successfully

LANSFORD,CARBON COUNTY(WOLF) — Authorities in Lansford were called to No.9 Coal Mine earlier this morning. A man broke into the mine and refused to come out, stating he was armed. Officials tell us the man spent more than 12 hours in the coal tourist attraction. Authorities tell FOX56 the suspect David Eisenhauer from Carbon County broke into the coal mine around 4am Thursday Morning. Workers noticed signs of a break-in, and smoke coming from the mine.

19-year-old Stafford County Fire Dept. employee charged with murder in infant son's death

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A 19-year-old is behind bars after allegedly killing his 3-month-old son, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. Altoona man sentenced to jail time, probation in assault case

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Blair County say an Altoona has been sentenced to jail time and probation after pleading guilty to physically and sexually assaulting a woman last year. Aaron Foster was arrested last June following a disturbance at a home along 3rd Ave. in the city of Altoona. Police say the woman stated that Foster "shoved her" and forced her into the bedroom of the home, where he proceeded to sexually assault her, following an altercation about a party that the two had attended.

CB Joey Porter Jr. receives team ROTY award

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Joey Porter Jr. has been named as the team's Rookie of the Year. Porter, who was selected in the second round of the 2023 draft, is just the third Steelers' cornerback to win the "Joe Greene Great Performance Award," joining Delton Hall in 1987 and Chad Scott in 1997. Porter is the son of former Steelers' linebacker Joey Porter, and much like his father, he has made a name for himself with his aggressive style of play.

Family pushes for answers in shooting death of 12-year-old boy
