WJAC-TV anchor Tim Rigby, brother, recovering after successful kidney transplant

PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — This Christmas Eve, our family here at WJAC wants to share wonderful news regarding our friend and colleague, Tim Rigby. As many know, Tim underwent kidney transplant surgery Thursday in Pittsburgh. Tim's brother, State Rep. Jim Rigby, was a perfect match and was cleared by doctors to donate his kidney to Tim. Both Tim and his brother, Jim, are doing great. In fact, Tim said it is unbelievable how much better he feels already.

'I know your face:' Man accused of threatening to shoot CamTran bus driver, JPD says

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Johnstown Police Department say a local man is behind bars after he allegedly threatened to shoot a CamTran bus driver last week. Police say the incident occurred last Friday afternoon when 20-year-old Quavonte Eggleton attempted to board a CamTran bus while not wearing a shirt, which is against company policy. According to the affidavit, witnesses told police that Eggleton was asked to exit the bus, at which time he reportedly became irate and began shouting obscenities at the bus driver.

Fort Roberdeau staff discuss site's historical importance in our fight for independence

BLAIR CO, Pa (WJAC) — The hills above the city of Altoona house a replica of a fort that dates back to the nation’s war for independence: Fort Roberdeau. Executive director for Fort Roberdeau, Glenn Nelson, takes us back in time. “Fort Roberdeau was built in the spring of 1778, for the purpose of lead mining. During that period of the Revolutionary War, the Continental Army was having trouble finding sources of lead to make musket balls and rifle slugs.

Officials demolish bridge damaged in fiery crash that kept I-95 in Connecticut closed

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — A bridge damaged in a fiery crash that kept Interstate 95 in Connecticut closed Thursday and Friday has been demolished. A live camera operated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation on Saturday showed excavators and bucket loaders scooping up rubble from the destroyed Fairfield Avenue overpass above I-95 in Norwalk and dumping it into large containers and dump trucks to be hauled away. Crews started tearing down the bridge on Friday morning and work, including the repaving of damaged parts of the roadway, was expected to last through the weekend.

Penn State hosts annual turkey sale ahead of holiday, dozens of turkeys still available

STATE COLLEGE – Time is running out if you haven't gotten your turkey yet, there's just a few days left before Thanksgiving! Monday folks in State College picked up their turkeys from Penn State's annual sale. It's the prime time for everyone to get their turkey for the holiday. The sale started at 11 a.m. but people showed up early. Over 100 hungry customers were lined up before 10 a.m. to get the bird of their choice.

Two western Pa men charged for partaking in Capitol riot

Pittsburgh, Pa (WJAC) — According to a release from the Department of Justice, two Western Pennsylvania men have been arrested and charged for partaking in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Authorities say Jordan Mink, of Oakdale, and Matthew Perna, of Sharon, face charges related to criminal acts at the Capitol earlier this month. Investigators say Perna faces charges of unlawful entry on a restricted building, unlawful injury to property, violent entry, destruction of government property, theft of government property and aiding and abetting, while Mink faces charges of knowingly entering a restricted building and disorderly conduct.

3 face charges in connection to meth lab bust, stolen firearm

BELLEFONTE – Three Bellefonte women are facing charges in Centre County in connection to a methamphetamine lab bust and a stolen firearm after a traffic stop. According to Spring Township police, Skyler Holland has been charged with; operating a meth lab, possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, precursors to a meth lab, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be possessed by convicted felon, firearms carried without a license, criminal use of communication facility, possession of instruments of a crime, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture meth and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Cambria County approves grant applications for courthouse roof repairs and more

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Cambria County commissioners approved applications for several grants Thursday morning, including one they say will help with some much-needed repairs for the roof of the Cambria County Courthouse. During their meeting Thursday morning, commissioners approved applications for three grants. The first is $579,420 for the county's library system and its community hub project. The second: $250,000 for Nulton Diagnostics and its medical autonomous care research and development program.

Clearfield County cemetery is off limits to visitors

PENFIELD - People in Clearfield County are being stopped from visiting the graves of loved ones. People with family buried at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Penfield said they noticed a fence with a no trespassing sign sometime last week around the graveyard. Property records show Bruce Gerber owns the property. People visiting the cemetery said they were told Gerber is stopping them from entering because of liability issues. 6 News tried calling a number believed to be Gerber's but those calls were not returned.
