State College parking garage will remain open despite damage to 'structural beam'

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — One day after a crack was spotted in a structural beam, the McAllister Parking Deck in downtown State College remains open. Officials say the parking garage is 33 years old, but after securing the cracked beam, borough engineers say they can do the repair work without closing the entire deck. The McAllister deck has 230 parking spaces, and close to 40 of them are temporarily closed while the situation is assessed, and permanent repairs are made.

Altoona PD seeking new leads into year-old, 'violent' home invasion

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Altoona police are asking the public's help in solving a year-old, "violent" home invasion. Police say on the night of May 27, 2023, multiple suspects reportedly broke into a home along the 800 block of 18th Ave. and "physically restrained" a 70-year-old female resident. Authorities say the suspects then "violently" assaulted the victim by punching her in the head and face and then striking her with CO2 powered handgun.

Bellefonte woman accused of giving children meth, bathing them in bleach

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Police have charged a Bellefonte woman after she was accused of giving methamphetamine to children and bathing them in bleach as a result of her drug-induced paranoia. Bellefonte Borough police say Tara Auman, 33, faces multiple misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors and child endangerment, according to online court documents. Police say in early April, they received a CYS report alleging that Auman was smoking and providing methamphetamine to children.

A woman who was brutally murdered over thirty years ago has finally been identified but authorities are still searching for her missing daughter.
