John F. Kennedy bust restored, rededicated shortly before anniversary of assassination

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Nov. 22 marks the 55th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, who was shot in Dallas, Texas in 1963. Residents in Altoona can pay their respects at the Kennedy Memorial at Tuckahoe Park, where the newly refurbished Kennedy bust was rededicated just in time for the anniversary. The bust, which was first erected in 1964, was vandalized. It was restored through the efforts of the Central Pennsylvania National Guard and Veterans Association.

National Club Baseball Division III World Series returning to Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — The National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) will be returning to Johnstown this spring for the Division III World Series, according to a release from visitjohnstownpa.com. Sargent's Stadium at the Point will host the championship tournament for the second consecutive year. The event is scheduled for May 15-17, and will include the four best teams for the NCBA district tournaments. Over 300 fans, players and coaches are expected to attend the three-day event.

Police investigating homicide in Indiana County

CHERRYHILL TOWNSHIP - Three teens have been jailed on charges they killed a young couple while robbing their Indiana County home and taking a safe. Twenty-six-year-old Timothy Gardner and 20-year-old Jacqueline Brink were found slain in their home in Cherryhill Township, near Clymer, early Thursday. Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty says the investigation is ongoing and the cause of the victims' deaths wasn't immediately released. State police have charged 18-year-old Nathaniel Price, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and two teens from Clymer, 19-year-old Justin Stevenson and 17-year-old Isaiah Scott, with criminal homicide and robbery.

Teen charged for stabbing man at Tyrone residence

TYRONE, Pa (WJAC) — Tyrone police say a teenager is being charged as an adult for reportedly stabbing a 26-year-old man Tuesday afternoon, according to a criminal complaint. Police say on Tuesday, around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a domestic dispute at a home along the 600 block of Washington Ave. in Tyrone. Authorities say responding officers were approached by 17-year-old Joshua Riggleman, who admitted to police that he had stabbed the man.

Wrestling coach among 59 killed in Las Vegas attack

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa — The family of Shippensburg Greyhound Wrestling Coach Bill Wolfe has confirmed he is among the 59 people tragically killed in the Las Vegas mass shooting, according to the Shippensburg Police Department. A statement posted to the police department Facebook page stated: It is with the most of broken hearts, the families of Bill Wolfe Jr. and his wife Robyn share that Bill has been confirmed to be among the deceased as a result of the mass attack in Las Vegas.

20 feet of pizza to be made in Punxsutawney for PACC 20th anniversary

PUNXSUTAWNEY - Ten local pizzerias and organizations in Jefferson County will team up this weekend to create a 400-square-foot pizza. The event is being held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Punxsutawney Area Community Center. But the pizza challenge will also be a practice run and send-off for the owner of Punxsy Pizza, Scott Anthony. Anthony, representing Punxsutawney, will head to California on April 9 to help break the Longest Pizza World Record for Guinness World Records.

Crews from multiple counties dispatched to fire at Bedford Valley Petroleum

BEDFORD COUTNY, Pa. (WJAC) — A massive fire erupted in Bedford County Thursday on the 10,000 block of Lincoln Highway in Everett. Firefighters from four different counties responded to the large-scale fire at Bedford Valley Petroleum, but Bedford County Emergency Management Agency Director Dave Cubbison says it could’ve been a lot worse. “Right around this area, we had facilities like AmeriGas, we had Spring House Estates, we had the hospital less than a mile away,” said Cubbison.

Fire crews respond to Burger King fire

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Emergency crews responded to a building fire in Richland Township Saturday morning. According to Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department, the fire broke out at the Galleria Burger King after 9 a.m. Richland Towhship Volunteer Fire Department Chief said there was minimal damage to the building, however the Burger King will be closed until inspections can be done. The cause of the fire was grease in the hood system.

Johnstown group offers free prom dresses for those in need

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Cinderella Project has been helping girls dress to impress for prom for over a decade. Saturday they'll be having their 13th annual try on day at the YWCA in Johnstown, and it's all for free. Dresses aren't the only thing up for grabs, shoes and accessories will also be available. Everything is first come first-served, but there's no shortage of dresses, which are donated year-round.

Owners of Silver Drive in looking for fresh faces to take over operations

Owners of the iconic Silver Drive In in Richland are looking for fresh faces to keep the operations running. But a promise has been made to keep the facility open until a new owner is found. Owner Rick Rosko says at 72 years old it’s time for him to pass the torch to someone else who will keep the drive-in open for decades to come. “I’ve got a 4-year-old daughter. Whenever the movies are right for her, we love to bring her and let her see something up on the big screen while having a fun and inventive night out in the back of our vehicle,” says patron Randy Oest.
