This year has brought several inflation readings that were higher than expected, pushing back the timeline for when the Fed might begin cutting its benchmark interest rate that makes it more expensive to borrow money for things like auto loans and credit cards.

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — New crime-solving equipment will soon be coming to Cambria County and investigators are hoping that it will help them solve cases much faster. The county recently receiving more than a half-a-million-dollar federal grant for a DNA database. Officials saying the database will vastly speed up the process of getting DNA matches. CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say a Cresson man is facing charges, accused of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl at her bus stop. Police say in March, the victim reported that 62-year-old James Kline had touched her while she was waiting for the school bus. Investigators say the teen stated that Kline would hug her, which she described as "married people hugs." Police say another teen also reportedly witnessed the inappropriate contact and told the victim to report it.

(TND) — Max, a friendly feline that lives in the neighborhood around Vermont State University’s Castleton campus, can add another title to his resume on top of "good cat" and "soft kitty": doctor. The tabby tuxedo cat, who lives with a family on the street that leads to campus, was given the honorary degree of "doctor of litter-ature" ahead of the main, human student body graduation Saturday. University officials said Max was receiving the degree for his notable friendliness and the rapport he has built up with the entire campus, from students to faculty and staff, over the last four years.

(WJAC) — A Centre County woman is sentenced to a state prison in a child abuse case that a doctor says has left the young victim with nearly no chance of having a meaningful recovery. During her sentencing hearing Thursday in Centre County court, Mindy Sue Jackson's struggles with mental health issues were part of the testimony. But also testifying was a doctor from Geisinger Health who said the infant abused by Jackson, suffered severe brain injuries that’s left her in a near vegetative state.
