Driver, two bystanders injured following late-race crash at Hidden Valley Speedway

CLEARFIELD, Pa (WJAC) — A late-race crash at Hidden Valley Speedway Saturday night, led to three people, including two bystanders, being hospitalized. Speedway officials say that in the closing laps of Saturday's "Street Stock" event, a battle for position led to one of the drivers, identified as Raymond Reynolds, losing control and crashing into a utility pole in the infield. Track officials say photographer Kinser Mayhew, and his father, Kenny Mayhew, the flagman, were also injured.

Employee shot after interrupting burglary

TACOMA, Wash. (KOMO) — An employee responding to a business alarm was shot by burglars early Thursday in Tacoma, Washington. The shooting occurred at 2:59 a.m., according to the Tacoma Police Department. Surveillance video of the burglary shows an armed robber shooting an employee after responding to the business alarm. The business owner provided the surveillance footage of the shooting to KOMO. Suspected burglars drove through the doors of the business — either a restaurant or grocery store, police said — before 3 a.

Missing MA man found dead in Clearfield County

She says an autopsy was performed Monday and the results are pending. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — On Friday, Gov. Tom Wolf signed a proclamation of disaster emergency and activated more than 1,000 Pennsylvania National Guard troops to Philadelphia. Philadelphia police and city officials are preparing from any unrest that might occur following the verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin, who is charged in the death of George Floyd. Closing arguments in Chauvin's trial are scheduled for Monday, and city officials say they have learned from their mistakes in responding to the protests against police brutality and racial injustice after Floyd's death in late May.

Landfill fire in Jackson Township, according to dispatch

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa (WJAC). — Cambria County dispatch says there is a large, outdoor fire at Laurel Highlands Landfill in Jackson Township. Dispatch says West Taylor Volunteer Fire Company, Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company and Nanty Glo Fire Company were all called to the scene Monday morning. Officials say several garbage trucks were turned away by staff because of the fire. Renovations continue at Lakemont Park in Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Lakemont Park may currently be covered in snow, but officials say they're looking ahead to opening day. Park staff says renovations began here almost three years ago. The park is scheduled to open this Memorial Day weekend for the first time since 2016. Lakemont officials say the park will be open seven days a week. Attractions will include historic Leap the Dips, the world’s oldest roller coaster still in operation, a new mini golf course, an all-new themed activity pool and renovated water slides.
