Coroner IDs man shot & killed by PSP following high-speed chase in Indiana County
Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — Indiana County coroner Jerry Overman has identified the man who was shot and killed by state police over the weekend following a high-speed chase.
Overman says 51-year-old John Vincent Dye suffered multiple gunshot wounds following the officer-involved shooting that occurred late Sunday night.
Investigators say troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Center Township, when Dye fled the scene and a pursuit was initiated.
Police say troopers were eventually able to disable Dye's vehicle along Route 119, near Tide Road, at which time they exchanged gunfire with him.
Authorities say Dye was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the troopers involved in the shooting have been placed on leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
