Brother, sister from Michigan arrested on drug charges in Blair Co., police say

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Altoona police say a brother and sister from Michigan were arrested in Blair County Friday morning following a drug bust. Authorities say Kalifah and Essence Stokes, both of Detroit, are facing numerous drug-related charges after police raided a home along the 300 block of Walnut Ave. Police say authorities seized approximately 11 ounces of crystal meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash during the bust. Authorities say CYS was also called to the scene after police discovered an infant child inside the home.

ConocoPhillips to acquire Marathon Oil for $17.1 billion all-stock deal

ConocoPhillips is buying Marathon Oil in an all-stock deal valued at approximately $17.1 billion as energy prices rise and big oil companies reap massive profits. The deal is valued at $22.5 billion when including $5.4 billion in debt. Crude prices have jumped more than 12% this year and the cost for a barrel rose above $80 this week. Oil majors put up record profits after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and while those numbers have slipped, there has been a surge in mergers between energy companies flush with cash.

Mega Millions jackpot increases after no winners in Friday's drawing

Producer and engineer Steve Albini, who recorded Nirvana and the Pixies, dead at 61

CHICAGO (TND) — Steve Albini, the idiosyncratic producer and engineer who recorded era-defining alternative 90s rock albums by the likes of Nirvana, the Pixies, and P.J. Harvey, has died. He was 61 years old. Albini, who also performed as a punk rock musician in the noise and post-punk bands Big Black, which he fronted, and Shellac, died of a heart attack, the staff of his recording studio, Electric Audio, confirmed to Pitchfork.

Clearfield County woman killed in crash, daughter taken to hospital

BIGLER TOWNSHIP - A 34-year-old Clearfield County woman died in a single-car crash after hitting a tree Friday morning. Cindy Gausman, of Brisbin, was pronounced dead at the scene by Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris. The woman’s 11-year-old daughter, a passenger, was injured and taken by helicopter from UPMC Altoona to Pittsburgh. Dr. John Zesiger said the girl is a sixth grade student in the Moshannon Valley School District and was responsive when she left the scene in an ambulance.

One dead, three injured after vehicle accident in Butler County

One man is dead and three others have been injured, including a child, after a vehicle accident in Slippery Rock Township Friday evening, state police said. According to a press release, Charles Raisor, 71, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old female traveling north on Harmony Road at around 5:15 p.m. State police said the female driver was traveling too fast for road conditions and crossed over the center line, entering the southbound lane of travel.

Shocking footage released from bridge collapse in Baltimore
